Primitive Camp, Hike, Kayak and Explore Caves and Spectacular Geologic Outcrops 5 Days of Geology and Texas History Experiential Learning

Kids build skills and make memorable experiences and friendships:
  • Primitive Camping Life: How to setup tent and group camp, cut wood, make fire, find milky way, count stars, sing-along besides campfire, have fun, make new friends, and so much more!
  • Cooking: Prepare multiple group dishes, work safely with knifes, cook in iron cast Dutch oven stove over open fire, golden s’mores, wash dishes. We strive to observe a variety of diets.
  • Geology: Scratch, smell, feel, taste and conduct a variety of tests to identify rocks and minerals hand samples, visit spectacular outcrop settings and start your own Texas rock collection. Learn about Edwards Plateau and the Balcones Escarpment and much more!
  • Hiking: How to plan gear, food and itinerary, and then carryout a successful full-day group hike.
  • Caves: Explore two amazing show caves and one wild cave to learn about their geologic history and human impact.
  • Kayaking: Practice technique to safety maneuver your kayak while on the open water.
  • Orienteering/Navigation: Work with maps and compass to find your location and navigate to various points of interest.
  • Survival Scenarios: Using personal stories, analyze decision making and what to do in difficult circumstances.
  • Texas History: Experience a variety of locations shaped by Native Indians, Mexicans, Afro-Americans, and Europeans.
  • Leave No Trace: learn about and practice the principles of leave no trace.
  • Success: Hands-on practice of leadership, teamwork, communication, adaptability, and perseverance - traits that helps one succeed in life!
A socially distant geologic field trip experience with an adventurous twist aimed at extraordinary students. This is an outdoor adventure education and character development program for lifetime benefits. In the pursuit of happiness, to making new friends, create long-lasting memories and improving self-confidence and wellbeing. Five days without electronics, for students to practice in-person communication with other humans. Promoting human-powered outdoor activities in spectacular settings to teach geology, human skills, and adventure sports.

Included:all cost associated with group transportation, camping and kayaking gear, food, training, all didactic materials and access to caves and parks.

Packing List

SAFETY: We are a family of passionate outdoor explorers, enthusiastic to share our knowledge and to work with kids. We have 20+ years of adventure experience. Lead instructor is certified Wilderness First Aid, CPR/AED, ACA L-3 Trip Leader and ACA L-3 Coastal Kayak Instructor and undertake Youth Protection/Child Abuse training and Defensive Driving for 15-passengers van. A parental waiver must be signed.
